Cookshack Smokette Elite Electric Bbq Smoker Review

Cookshack Smokette Elite Electric Bbq Smoker

This is one impressive smoker! I got the black Smokette model 20 with the stainless top and let me tell you, it is built like a safe! Looking at the workmanship, I have no concerns about rusting or long-term durability. I'll probably be retired by the time this thing wears out. When I first started looking at smokers, it seemed like a lot of other brands were/are poorly constructed, basically college dorm room refrigerators with heating elements slapped inside of them, lots of plastic, cheap controls, and flimsy grills. Or they were made of glorified aluminum foil or miscellaneous Chinese metal. Not acceptable to me when you have to throw down a few C-Notes to the cashier on the way out of the smoker store! I also saw a lot of reviews where people complained about underpowered heating elements and lack of temperature control. To avoid that whole mess, I got a 750W element in my Cookshack with insulated walls. The Smokette heats up with authority and holds temp amazingly well. The first night I used my smoker, the outdoor temps were in the 30's. The Smokette will not get hot to the touch or burn the underneath side of your deck. It stays cool on the exterior during operation. It has a roomy interior, two 14" x 18" shelves, with lots of space to smoke a turkey or plenty of ribs. The first thing I smoked was a big Steelhead Salmon fillet. Man! Did it taste good! One thing to note and you will not find it in the manual, the controller is programmed to heat for the first 20 minutes of the cycle to get the wood smoldering, so if you accidentally turn it off when it is near your desired smoking temperature, (like I did), you wont be able to figure out why it keeps heating up. If this happens, just open the door, after 20 minutes it will control right on the money. The grease pan is just a disposable that sits freely on the ground underneath. For such a nice smoker, it would be nice if there was a built in slide out tray. Other brands I seriously considered and probably would have been happy with included the relatively new and unheard of Smokehouse Little Chief 2 and/or Big Chief 2. Both Cookshack and Smokehouse Chief 2's are made in the USA and very well built. The others I almost purchased were the Weber Smokey Mountain, and the Smokin-it model #2. I'm really glad I bought the Cookshack, you can't go wrong with it. Happy smok'n!

Eureka 2971BVZ Altima Bagless Upright Vacuum Review

Eureka 2971BVZ Altima Bagless Upright Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I loved this vacuum for three months. It picked up pet hair dander and dust better than most. I babied the machine, cleaned out the dust container mid use and washed the filters and dust cup after each use. Then it happened, a loud noise a small amount of smoke and the belt had snapped, the brush mount melted and the housing destroyed (from the melted brush mount). Eureka representatives said the part that failed was not under warranty and has refused to replace or repair my relatively new vaccum. They even said it was my fault for not keeping it at a high enough setting for my carpet (I keep it on the highest setting). It would have cost me more to repair than replace the machine. I have had great luck with Eureka products in the past but with their response (or lack thereof) I will not buy a Eureka again. Do yourself a favor and don't buy a Eureka Altima.

Weber 1780001 Summit S-650 Propane Grill, Stainless Steel Review

Weber 1780001 Summit S-650 Propane Grill, Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is my fourth gas grill which replaces a very expensive stainless "Turbo" unit I bought from Barbecues Galore about eight years ago. That Turbo started out fine, but steadily deteriorated to the point where I didn't even want to fire it up anymore. The quality of materials and workmanship on the Weber Summit S-650 is top shelf. Every detail is well thought-out and executed, including the burner system, high-end side burner, LP tank weight guage, heavy guage stainless grills, jet ignition system, separate smoker box and burner, drip tray system, massive lid, and LED grill-out lights that really work. I've only owned the Summit for a short time, but everything I've grilled so far has turned out perfectly. The six burners and large cooking area make it possible to cook for a large party, but also provide more options for indirect cooking. Want more heat without increased gas usage? Turn on the burners closer to the food. It's brilliant. Perhaps the best features are the flavorizer bars and grease drip system. They virtually guarantee no flare-ups on fatty foods like burgers and chicken quarters, which was a constant source of frustration with my previous grill. The grease hits the flavorizer bars and disappears into a poof of smoke. What misses the flavorizer bars hits the full width slanted grease tray that terminates into an aluminum catch pan. Clean and easy to manage with zero flare-ups and no charred food.
I really can't say enough good things about this grill and I can't think of a single negative to write about. While the Summit S-650 may seem expensive at first glance, it compares very favorably to grills costing 4x as much. With the Summit, you don't get what you pay for...you get much more. Is it possible to love a grill? :-)

Zojirushi EF-TTC40 Gourmet Roaster w/ Timer Review

We eat a lot of porkchops and fish and we use this grill/roaster for cooking it. This is a great Zoji machine and it's a healthy way of cooking. Cleaning up like all electric grills and roasters is not the easiest thing to do.

Other than the cellophane being broken on all of the packs, it works as described. Nice to have smoke in a gas grill for ribs.

10 Pound Soaked Toasted French Oak Wood Chips BBQ Smoking Chips - 10 Pound Bag Review

10 Pound Soaked Toasted French Oak Wood Chips BBQ Smoking Chips - 10 Pound Bag
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Although the description claims these chips were soaked in brandy, it neglects to mention that they were apparently used by a winery to impart oak flavoring to their brandy. So all of the oak flavoring has gone out of them, and into the brandy. Of course, almost all of the brandy was drained from them too, and it wouldn't surprise me if a short purging rinse were applied as well, to get the last few gallons of brandy out of them. What you're buying here is a bunch of very mildly brandy flavored cellulose chips. Gone are all the natural oak vanillins, sugars and resins that are the prized characteristics of toasted French oak. You'd get more flavor running yard trimmings through a chipper, then seasoning them with a wine reduction. Might make a decent kitty litter, though.

Indoor Stove Top Barbecue Grill Review

Indoor Stove Top Barbecue Grill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Have a Zojirushi Indoor Electric Grill purchased from Amazon & it truly is a great product. Decided to buy an indoor stovetop grill for extra veggies or for keeping the cooking simple without extra clean up. Since the reviews for the Chefmaster weren't that great, decided to try the Kitchen Pride grill.
There are no instructions included with the grill. There are conflicting instructions on the box, 1 says cook on the desired heat, the other says no preheat necessary & cook on low. Says a chicken breast should cook within 7 to 10 minutes. I just cooked veggies.
It is hard to see if you have ample water in the bottom, so when water was added, had to spend 5 minutes picking up the extra water that poured out & landed under the gas burner. Did not preheat as instructed, think my total cooking time was around 45 minutes. My Zojirushi would have cooked the veggies in about 10 minutes. Did finally raise the gas temperature to medium heat, but it still took awhile to get the grill marks on the veggies.
Soaked the grill portion for about 2 hours in hot, soapy water. Never really came clean after about 10 minutes of scrubbing, although never lost any of the finish.
Have trashed the grill, not worth going through the trouble of getting a refund.
