(More customer reviews)After researching many smokeless ashtrays, I chose this more expensive one based on technology and the makers name. Should have just bought one of the lesser priced ones. Talon states it needs cleaned occasionally-twice a week is more like it. The nicotine builds up all over the outside dome quite rapidly. It is difficult and awkward to clean. The two small plastic hinges which regulate the angle and height broke off within the first month.-Thus it keeps falling down on itself. Do yourself a favor and buy a smokeless ashtray that is half the price. This one falls apart more quickly than an AMC Gremlin. In addition, no matter how carefully you clean it[I treated it as if it were a piece of china], it works only off and on once it has been cleaned.

(More customer reviews)Nice flip-open ashtray. Nice and shiny. Good construction and nice weight so it won't just blow away. Slightly concerned about the hinge - it's just a stamped piece sticking out from the flip-top - hopefully it won't rust and fall off. Overall very happy with it.

(More customer reviews)This ashtray works pretty good. It snuffs lit cigs when they are put into the hole at the top. I suppose there just isnt enough air in the unit to keep them burning. Plus I like the height of the thing. The other astrays Ive seen make you bend over to use them. It is also very easy to take apart and put back together. It snaps. No screws, or threads at all. It also has a small galvanized pail that holds all the old butts. Just grab the handle and dump in the trash. Clean and easy.
It also sheds water pretty good. I had to add sand to the inside to keep wind from moving it though. It was too light. Other than that we like it a lot as it keeps the area outside the door clean. Highly recommended.

*Works well when the cigarette is resting in the ashtray
*2 C Batteries last about a month with normal use (1-2 smokers)
*Relatively quiet if placed on a soft surface
*Filters and batteries are very easy to change
*Long motor-life (I've had mine for over a year and it's still running strong, even when it gets clogged with ashes and tar)
Cons:
*Difficult to clean the fan and lower compartments that house the batteries and filters
*Doesn't "suck" smoke into the ashtray from more than a few inches away.
*Fiters seem to need changing more often than batteries, which can become pricey.
*Noisy if placed on a hard surface (can be remedied by putting a snall towel under it to quiet the vibrations)

(More customer reviews)Have been using smokeless ashtrays for years. Some work, some dont, some last some dont, some are junk, some are a pain in the ass to use. Gone through about 10 different models and this one is heads and tails above the rest.
Pros: Quietest, filters last the longest, filters are cheap, filters catch the most smoke, batteries last for months of continous use, large capacity, nice appearance, the thing is made heavy duty and quality you can tell as soon as you feel it.
Cons: The wife still yells at me for not picking up my socks.

I also, drilled 3 more holes in the bottom so I could lag screw the stand to my deck. This stand also looks great! More expensive than the others, but worth the money.

(More customer reviews)Best to use the AC plug as opposed to batteries, unless you enjoy changing batteries often (batteries are beneath the tray and it gets pretty nasty under there). It does work better than any other smokeless ashtray I've tried, but it's still too noisy for my liking. Could be there isn't really any way to get it quieter as well as the vacuum does suck up the smoke quite well.
