(More customer reviews)I purchased the oak Mojobricks, Mojobricks PO10 Fred Oak-Charcoal Replacement Smoking Wood, 10-Pack, through Amazon, without realizing that they were compressed oakwood waste. Upon further investigation it appears that there is waste wood products, included, other than oak. But it could be a mixture of red and white oak; there really is no way to tell what the product contains.
I did not know that I would need a hand axe to size the bricks into useable chunks for smoking to use in conjunction with charcoal briquets.
I have yet to purchase or borrow a tool to split the bricks into useable pieces, so I have not evaluated the smoking, and food taste qualities.
I purchased real oak chunks, Camerons Products Small Bag BBQ Chunks, Oak, from Amazon, with the same order as the Mojobricks, and have been using these with great satisfaction.
In the future I will only purchase pure and natural oak chunks and be more diligent in the product research.
