Not only was this not a 12 pack, but it basically was a single bag of sawdust...not chips.
Charged me over $12 shipping & handling, to send it 40 miles from their business...plus it took 10 days from order.
Will never recommend buying anything from these folks...

Bubba Keg 05501 Barrel-Shaped Charcoal Grill for Convection-Style Cooking Review

Bubba Keg 05501 Barrel-Shaped Charcoal Grill for Convection-Style Cooking
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was really looking for a gas BBQ because of the climate of where I live. I wanted something that would start fast and be a easy to use. I had a coal BBQ but hated how long it took to start and get hot. I sw the Bubba Keg and did some research. After finding the BBKG forum, I decided to buy it. Best investment ever. Not only does it start fast, but it also get super hot. I have seared steaks at 750F and done pizza on a stone at 500F. Where this BBQ really shines is in maintaining its temperature. For ThanksGiving I did a 16lb turkey at 250F for 6hours, and the temp never fluxed. I also did a 10hour pulled pork that held at 200F. The setting on this thing allow you (with a little practice) to get to a temp and have it hold for hours. The best part, its so efficient, that I normally have a lot of coal left over at the end. By the way, it recommends that you use Lump Coal, which is cheaper and burns hotter with less ash, so win-win. I wish I would have waited for the new lower price. But even at the original price it was a bargain."

With a barrel shape designed for efficient thermal convection-style cooking, this outdoor grill makes a welcome addition to any back deck or patio--perfect for those who love to cook up summer fare when gathering with friends and family. The charcoal grill supplies 450 square inches of space for anything from hot dogs and hamburgers to grilled salmon, veggie shish-kabobs, steak, fresh slices of pineapple, and more. Place its removable cast-iron grill grate in the lower position for large items like whole turkeys or roasts or in the upper position for smaller items. For added versatility and cooking space, the unit provides a chrome-plated grill grate that can be used up top (with the cast-iron grill grate down below). Double steel walls and oven-grade insulation trap in the heat for maximum fuel efficiency, while top and bottom dampers control the cooking time and temperature by regulating airflow. The grill uses 100-percent natural lump charcoal, instead of charcoal briquettes, for hotter and cleaner (additive- and filler-free) burning with less ash waste at the end. A multi-purpose tool comes included for adjusting the dampers, moving the grill grates, raking out the ashes, and cleaning the cast-iron cooking grate. Thoughtfully designed, the grill also features built-in bottle openers, a thermometer in the lid, a high-performance lid seal, stay-cool handles, and removable side trays for setting tools or platters, as well as a mesh screen that keeps embers and ashes neatly inside and a durable steel stand with large rubberized wheels for smooth transport. Best of all, a trailer-hitch adaptor comes included for taking the grill to the beach, tailgating parties, outdoor picnics, and more. Fully assembled, the grill measures approximately 27 by 44 by 46 inches and carries a five-year limited warranty with a three-year limited warranty on all the cast-iron parts, the chromed cooking grate, the fire bowl, and the lid seal gasket.

Duraflame Stax Fire Logs, 3.6 Lbs 3 Pk Review

Duraflame Stax Fire Logs, 3.6 Lbs 3 Pk
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We've been buying these at the grocery store, and they make a very nice fire. They're not quite as hot as regular firewood, but they burn much longer, produce fewer emissions, and leave a lot less ash in the fireplace. They crackle, but don't splutter and pop like raw logs. (A nice feature for safety paranoids like me.) We generally get the 3-packs in the store for anywhere from $7.49 to $9.99 - but they often have an instant coupon attached for $3 off. The literature that comes as part of the package also contains a "$5 off 2 packs" coupon that doesn't expire, so we also save those for when we buy them without the instant coupon. They're not terribly cheap, but I think it's a nice evening's fire for 5 - 7 bucks. We'll start the fire at the beginning of a hockey game, and manage to get through that and a movie before the fire dies out.
Try them!

Cookshack Smokette Elite Electric Bbq Smoker Review

Cookshack Smokette Elite Electric Bbq Smoker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is one impressive smoker! I got the black Smokette model 20 with the stainless top and let me tell you, it is built like a safe! Looking at the workmanship, I have no concerns about rusting or long-term durability. I'll probably be retired by the time this thing wears out. When I first started looking at smokers, it seemed like a lot of other brands were/are poorly constructed, basically college dorm room refrigerators with heating elements slapped inside of them, lots of plastic, cheap controls, and flimsy grills. Or they were made of glorified aluminum foil or miscellaneous Chinese metal. Not acceptable to me when you have to throw down a few C-Notes to the cashier on the way out of the smoker store! I also saw a lot of reviews where people complained about underpowered heating elements and lack of temperature control. To avoid that whole mess, I got a 750W element in my Cookshack with insulated walls. The Smokette heats up with authority and holds temp amazingly well. The first night I used my smoker, the outdoor temps were in the 30's. The Smokette will not get hot to the touch or burn the underneath side of your deck. It stays cool on the exterior during operation. It has a roomy interior, two 14" x 18" shelves, with lots of space to smoke a turkey or plenty of ribs. The first thing I smoked was a big Steelhead Salmon fillet. Man! Did it taste good! One thing to note and you will not find it in the manual, the controller is programmed to heat for the first 20 minutes of the cycle to get the wood smoldering, so if you accidentally turn it off when it is near your desired smoking temperature, (like I did), you wont be able to figure out why it keeps heating up. If this happens, just open the door, after 20 minutes it will control right on the money. The grease pan is just a disposable that sits freely on the ground underneath. For such a nice smoker, it would be nice if there was a built in slide out tray. Other brands I seriously considered and probably would have been happy with included the relatively new and unheard of Smokehouse Little Chief 2 and/or Big Chief 2. Both Cookshack and Smokehouse Chief 2's are made in the USA and very well built. The others I almost purchased were the Weber Smokey Mountain, and the Smokin-it model #2. I'm really glad I bought the Cookshack, you can't go wrong with it. Happy smok'n!

The box is just a typical wood chip box, reasonably thick. The dimensions on Amazon stated 8X3X6 - more like 8X5X1. I should have known based on the picture. Disappointing as the intent was to replace my existing one with a bigger box. 2 stars for the wrong dimensions, otherwise 4 had they been correct.

Don't waste your money. Even though I had soaked my chips for a couple of hours, they still lit on fire and burned in flames rather than smoked. And I had all the burners on the lowest setting. I have s Charbroil commercial barbeque. Don't waste your money. My previous $10 smoker box worked much better than this $50 one. I'd rate it a zero but Amazon won't let me go that low.

Little Chief Front Loading Home Electric Smoker Review

Little Chief Front Loading Home Electric Smoker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have used a Big Chief for years and decided to leave it at my girlfriends house and pick up a Little Chief. I like the smaller size and also the front loading. I never filled the big chief or even came close so I was heating lots of air. The Little Chief shares its big brothers ability to make some absolutely terrific smoked foods. Chicken and steak smoked and then grilled are awesome. Smoked salmon is my favorite. Very easy, I never mess with brine unless I am smoking bacon or making some sausage. I have used much more expensive smokers and while they are nice they don't make food taste one bit better. This unit would get five stars except it is not as well built as the Big Chief. The metal seems thinner and the racks are kind of flimsy. Would still recommend without hesitation. Also make great gifts. We have given several and they gets lots of use and compliments.

Air King 9900 20 Inch Window Floor Fan With 3 Filtration Volumes Review

Air King 9900 20 Inch Window Floor Fan With 3 Filtration Volumes
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Good idea, poor execution. This was the only box or window fan I could find that offers filtration (why??). It uses a regular filter you would use for your home furnace/ac. I thought that was a plus when I ordered it, because it would be cheap to replace. It's actually a minus, though. The filter is way to thick for a fan like this. On the low setting, you don't even feel a breeze. When you turn it up to medium or high, then it's too loud (not to mention wasting more electricity and polluting the Earth). I'm going to try to find a different filter... a lighter one and see if that helps. Thankfully, the filter easily snaps off so I can still use it as a regular fan if all else fails.

Nature's Choice Odor Away Review

Nature's Choice Odor Away

We moved into an apartment that unfortunately, the previous tenants had a huge dog. The carpet had been professionally cleaned by our complex and the smell persisted. We bought one bottle of this spray as a test run and it worked great. Has a pleasant smell to it. Our cats are none to happy as im guessing, this is removing their scent from everything they rub against. I took this as a sign that this stuff really works. We recently bought a second bottle to use as spot treatments to the carpet. It doesnt just remove pet odor, it removes cooking odors as well. Id recommend this product to friends.

Smokin Tex 1400 Pro Series Electric Bbq Smoker Review

Smokin Tex 1400 Pro Series Electric Bbq Smoker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned my SmokinTex (ST) for over 6 years and have been throughly pleased.
The unit is well built (in China) and very well insulated (I'll explain the insulation later). With the 800 watt heating element, maintaining a consistent temp is easy. I have smoked ribs, pork butt, brisket, chicken & turkey and jerky with fantastic results. The cook box will easily hold enough meat to feed 15-20 people. I have smoked as many as five 5# pork butts without a problem.
One of the fantastic advantages of this smoker is that you use only a few ounces of wood per smoke. I average 4 oz per smoke. One oz of wood is about the size of a golf ball, no kidding, that's it.
Another advantage is that, unlike a stick-burner or conventional smoker you don't have to tend a fire on a long smoke. Set the desired temp and you are good-to-go. No more sleepless nights wondering if the fire is still going. This alone is worth the price if you do much smoking.
The vents on this unit are small, one on the top and one on the bottom, both about the size of a nickel. This serves two purposes: first, there's not much air movement (static environment) so your meat stays moist, doesn't dry out - no need to mop or baste. Two, with the slow movement of air, the smoke stays in the box and permeates the meat, thus the need for not much wood. The ONLY disadvantage to this is that the skin on fowl (chicken & turkey) doesn't crisp up. A few minutes on the grill or in a hot oven takes care of this.
This unit is insulated to about 1000*. Yeah, it didn't mean a lot to me either, but here's the skinny: Being so well insulated, it doesn't matter if the outside temperature is 80* or below zero, your cooking time and temperature will be effected little if any. I've cooked on a windy, 14* day with little to no variance from a 75* day. Very impressive!
The unit comes assembled but you will have to thread the casters in. Don't be concerned about smoke leaking around the door when you first start smoking. This will eventually seal itself off as the unit cures - 4-8 smokes maybe.
"Keep the door closed!" This is key. Learn to cook by internal temperature of the meat. Each time you open the door you loose moisture and add about 30 minutes to your smoke. Buy a digital thermometer and run it thru the vent hole into the thickest part of your meat. Shoot for a certain internal temp and resist the temptation to open the door. It's a difficult lesson to learn but well worth it!
DO NOT clean the smoker after each use - only the grills/grates. I scrape the walls with a credit card or plastic scraper and wipe it down with a damp cloth about once per year.
I have nothing but high praise for this unit. It has served me well. If I had but one complaint it would be with customer service. I did have to replace the heating element about a year ago. It took them forever to return a call or answer an email.
If you like smoked food and don't want to spend hours tending a fire, this unit is for you. Yes, it seems a bit pricey but if you've spent sleepless nights wondering if you fire is still going, you'll know what I mean.
Hope this review helps someone! =)

Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Smoking Wood Chips for Pork Review

Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Smoking Wood Chips for Pork
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I smoke meats (pork, beef, fowl) frequently. Unfortunately, local merchants only carry hickory and mesquite wood. I recently cured my first fresh ham, and, wanting a sweeter smoke, purchased these chips. I was very disappointed. The chips are small, and are consumed quickly, requiring feeding approximately every ten minutes. I consumed the entire box in three hours, and resorted to hickory chunks--my favorite wood--for the final hour.
Overall, these chips, while providing the desired sweet smoke, are, by comparison with local sources, pricey, and insufficient for the serious smoker. I pay $6.00 for three pounds of hickory chunks at the local Walmart, and get 3-4 four hour smokes from one purchase. I won't purchase again.

Enjoy slow-cooked barbecue and authentic smokehouse flavor with this portable charcoal smoker and grill. Weighing just 14 pounds, the unit works great for picnics, camping, and beach cookouts where rolling a conventional grill from car to cook site would be too much of a hassle. Other highlights include porcelain-coated steel water and charcoal pans, wooden handles that stay cool to the touch, and an easy-to-clean design. This grill can do almost everything. We bake pizza on it, that adds a great smoke flavor just like a brick oven pizza. Smoking is great as is grilling. If your in a hurry, not so good. It takes time, but it's well worth it. The price through Ace sucks! You can get this grill for less than half at Pellet Grill Outlet. Would not hesitate to buy this grill at a fair price!

Smokehouse Mini Chief Smoker Review

Smokehouse Mini Chief Smoker

Smokehouse Mini Chief Smoker (Purchased on 04/27/2011)
I received the Mini smoker and was surprised at the poor quality. the bottom which is staked in was crooked by at least 1/4 inch preventing the smoker from siting flat on the bottom. the bracket holding the heater which was to be welded, was broken free. the top cover would not fit on to the unit until I bent the edges on both the top and the housing. there was a dent in the side of the housing, but nothing wrong with the cardboard package that the unit came in, meaning the dent was made at the factory and shipped that way. I wrote all this up with photos and sent it to the smokehouse factory, only to say that we should all buy American made products, but the manufacturer would have to do their part in providing a decent item. I waited close to a month before reviewing the smoker, hoping to hear something from them, I have not heard a word, which makes me think they don't really care. I repaired all the problems and used the smoker on my last fishing trip. It was OK.

Alen TF30-MP Odor Control Filter (T100/T300) 2pk Review

Alen TF30-MP Odor Control Filter (T100/T300) 2pk
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The price is likely justified once the true cost of making this filter is understood and I suppose $45 per filter isn't all that expensive. On the other hand, it's far more expensive than the standard Alen HEPA filter.
So far, the room I placed this in smells very "fresh" and clean, with no hint of excessive ozone production (with my purifier's ionizer set to "on").
My combined rating for the filter AND the purifier is 5 stars; I just like to see the price on these filters come down a bit.
