Smokehouse Wood Chips 12 - Pk. Review

Smokehouse Wood Chips 12 - Pk.

Not only was this not a 12 pack, but it basically was a single bag of sawdust...not chips.
Charged me over $12 shipping & handling, to send it 40 miles from their business...plus it took 10 days from order.
Will never recommend buying anything from these folks...

10 Pound Soaked Toasted French Oak Wood Chips BBQ Smoking Chips - 10 Pound Bag Review

10 Pound Soaked Toasted French Oak Wood Chips BBQ Smoking Chips - 10 Pound Bag
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Although the description claims these chips were soaked in brandy, it neglects to mention that they were apparently used by a winery to impart oak flavoring to their brandy. So all of the oak flavoring has gone out of them, and into the brandy. Of course, almost all of the brandy was drained from them too, and it wouldn't surprise me if a short purging rinse were applied as well, to get the last few gallons of brandy out of them. What you're buying here is a bunch of very mildly brandy flavored cellulose chips. Gone are all the natural oak vanillins, sugars and resins that are the prized characteristics of toasted French oak. You'd get more flavor running yard trimmings through a chipper, then seasoning them with a wine reduction. Might make a decent kitty litter, though.

Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Smoking Wood Chips for Pork Review

Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Smoking Wood Chips for Pork
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I smoke meats (pork, beef, fowl) frequently. Unfortunately, local merchants only carry hickory and mesquite wood. I recently cured my first fresh ham, and, wanting a sweeter smoke, purchased these chips. I was very disappointed. The chips are small, and are consumed quickly, requiring feeding approximately every ten minutes. I consumed the entire box in three hours, and resorted to hickory chunks--my favorite wood--for the final hour.
Overall, these chips, while providing the desired sweet smoke, are, by comparison with local sources, pricey, and insufficient for the serious smoker. I pay $6.00 for three pounds of hickory chunks at the local Walmart, and get 3-4 four hour smokes from one purchase. I won't purchase again.

Charcoal Companion Smoking Wood Chips, Beef and Lamb Review

Charcoal Companion Smoking Wood Chips, Beef and Lamb
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Charcoal Companion's Beef and Lamb Smoking Wood Chip Blend is the perfect--almost necessary--addition to your grilling routine. Its straightforward wood chips (not chunks) that are extremely simple to use and don't require much effort on your part. Soak them first to prevent burning for longer use or for a quick burn toss them on as is (I usually put them in a foil pouch for extended cooking). They're said to be soaked in cabernet; you can't really detect any notes of cabernet from the wood while in the bag or while smoking/smoldering in the grill but this is immaterial. I'm a city guy so I couldn't tell you the difference between Oak or Applewood in the grill, but having bought the Poultry Blend as well, I can say there is a difference in taste. The blend is aromatic but doesn't leave your home smelling like a hickory- or mesquite-filled smokehouse. For someone living in a rural area, buying these wood chips (though inexpensive) may seem like buying bottled water 50 years ago: why pay for what you have for free? Well, if you don't have access to trees for choppin', while very basic, this wood chip blend is convenient and very much so worth the money. I'll be buying again soon.

Easily elevate the quality of any backyard barbecue to gourmet heights with this blend of smoking wood chips. Made from a unique combination of mesquite and hickory, soaked in cabernet for enhanced flavor, the wood chips offer an effortless way to infuse a rich aroma into cuts of beef and lamb, as well as other meats, vegetables from the garden, or other grilled food--with no extra work and little mess. Simply add the wood chips directly on hot coals, or use the chips instead of charcoal; for a gas grill, fill a smoking box with the wood chips, place over the heat source, and cook food as usual. The wood chips release a fragrant smoke that permeates food with unbeatable flavor. They can also be soaked in water first for longer use or in wine, beer, or other flavored liquids or spices for customized results. The 130-cubic-inch bag of smoking wood chips measures approximately 3 by 6 by 13 inches.

Just Smoked Salmon Western Red Alder Wood Smoking Chips (8 lbs.) Review

Just Smoked Salmon Western Red Alder Wood Smoking Chips (8 lbs.)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Alder chips are almost impossible to find at a supermarket or large hardware store such as Home Depot or Lowes. These chips do indeed complement salmon very well. The flavor is more mild than hickory, mesquite, oak, pecan, maple or any of the fruit woods. The giant 8 pound bag will last for a couple of grilling seasons, and makes it easy to offer some to guests, if they enjoy the flavor. This is a great product, would recommend to anyone who enjoys a smoky flavor, but on the mild side.

BBQr's Delight Pellet Fuel - 1 Lb., Flavor: Hickory Review

BBQr's Delight Pellet Fuel - 1 Lb., Flavor: Hickory
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have used many of the different flavored BBQrs Delight and found they give a wonderful taste to the meat and fish. They are very easy to use and can be put on the BBQ just before placing the items on the grill. There is no cleanup as they totally disintegrate while smoking. I have used them in an electric smoker and on my gas fed grill. A great product.

Camerons Products Stovetop Smoker with Recipe Collection Review

Camerons Products Stovetop Smoker with Recipe Collection
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I received my Cameron Stovetop Smoker, I rinsed it off and got
busy smoking a 9 pound Texas brisket. I followed directions and use hickory dust. It was rubbed with Pappy's rub. I smoked it for
one and a half hours and then, without switching pans but removing the lid, I roasted it for another three hours at 275 degrees. It turned out to be the brisket I remembered my mother making when I was a child except it was even better and had that smokey flavor.
Since, I have smoked whole chicken, whole trout, Alaskan cod and sturgeon. What a treat! It lets out small wisks of smoke, just enough to give my apartment a wonderful scent. If you follow directions, you will not be disappointed.

Smoking Mesquite and Hickory Chips Review

Smoking Mesquite and Hickory Chips
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I found these chips in a local grocery store. Soaked two handfuls for 30 minutes in water, threw them on the charcoal grill, no nonsense smoke for about 10 minutes. I'd say they gave a medium smoke flavor with a heavy smoke scent.
The chips themselves were very rough, various shapes, and sizes ranging everywhere between 1/4 inch flakes to 2 inch long hunks. I did find a few pieces with some bark on them, but not too many.
The package is just what you see, a cardboard box stapled shut, no inner liner or plastic bag. The cardboard is the same thickness as, say, a box for cookies or crackers. Which makes for good protection on the store shelf but problematic to fold over and stay shut. I actually dumped all of mine into a gallon freezer bag.
If the pieces were more uniform and the box could close (lid) I'd give 5 stars.

Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Smoking Wood Chips for Seafood & Vegetables Review

Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue Smoking Wood Chips for Seafood and Vegetables
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There are several varieties of chips offered by BBQ U. These are by far our favorite! The flavor of these chips which are a mix of 3 different woods is in our opinion superior to the more popular and readily available hickory and mesquite that you find at the supermarket these woods are overpowering for our tastes. We use them for everything except beef. They are awesome for chicken and pork-chops and of-course scallops.
The best thing about this brand is that the chunks are very uniform in size and burn equally making the estimate of how much you need very predictable. meaning you start with 5 chunks. see how it comes out and adjust the next time. To smokey for you- use 3 not smokey enough-use 7 the uniform size makes the guesstimate quite accurate. The other thing I like is the packaging. Yes-the packaging. Most wood come in bags and makes the storage of them a bit clunky. The boxes make good use of space and can be stored in camping bins and bbq boxes much more efficiently. We store 3 different flavors of wood in the same box and only pack the 1 box. Anyone who grew up with the same tetris like mentality should relate. We also like the woodchips for pork. and the wine barrel chunks. The wine barrel chunks are perfect for beef!

Camerons Products Emeril-Approved Smoker Bags, Hickory, 3 Count Review

Camerons Products Emeril-Approved Smoker Bags, Hickory, 3 Count
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Purchased these bags as an alternative choice, but what a great product. Wasn't too sure about cooking in a bag and what it could add. I was amazed. Our thought was to use them in the winter time when outdoor grilling becomes more challenging. Put a two pound slab of salmon in the bag, closed it up and stuck it in the oven. Following directions, which are simple but could be easier to find, we took the fish out of the oven, opened the bag. There before us was a fully cooked salmon with delicious hickory flavor, moist and juicy. After dinner, just folded up the bag and tossed it in the trash, clean-up done. We did add some William-Sonoma fish seasoning to the salmon prior to placing it in the bag. The bag is similar to one of those insulated bags, but thinner. Studier enough to cook fish, haven't tried beef or other meat. That's next. I would recommend these bags, brings outdoor smoking inside without the mess or smoke.

Camerons 1-pt. Hardwood Smoker Chips - Set of 4
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have used Cameron's smoker chips exclusively on both my Cameron smokers with great results. You have to establish your own flavor profile to really get into it. I tend to like the very smokey flavors over the sweet ones but to each his own. One thing for sure is that the wood chips are pure therefore you dont pickup any aftertaste or flavor that you might get from some other inferior product. There is no waste as the chips burn completely to ash if you follow the smoker directions correctly. Highly recommended by this chef.

Outset F701, Cabernet Wood Smoking Chips(150 cu. in.)
Average Reviews:

In parts a great contributing flavor without overwhelming like hickory or mesquite can. However most of the "chips" are more like silvers. This is the only wood chips I prefer not to use my hands... to many remain stuck to hands. I recommend using a slotted spoon with small holes to strain the silvers out. I would love to give 5 stars aside of this issue.

Masterbuilt 30-Inch Smoker Cover Review

Masterbuilt 30-Inch Smoker Cover
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Where does your smoker live? Outdoors, like mine? Why do you want a cover? To keep the rain off? Hah! Not with this cover.
This cover fits the 30" Masterbuilt smoker nicely, seems reasonably well made, but a little expensive for what it is. Still I was pleased enough with it, and I was glad to replace the plastic garbage bag I had been using while waiting for this to arrive. That night it rained, and I was glad to have my smoker sitting safely in its new cover. The next day, however, I discovered that I might as well have left my smoker in the rain with no cover at all. The entire smoker was soaking wet. What a disappointment.
If you are looking solely for a dust cover, I imagine you will be happy enough with this product. If you are looking to protect your outdoor use appliance from the outdoors, this is a waste of money. I am back to using a garbage bag, although I do use this cover over the garbage bag for appearance's sake.
I guess you can't expect too much from Masterbuilt. I noticed a recipe on their web site (Hamburger Jerky) in which "marinade" was repeatedly referred to as "marinate sauce". Someone needs to let them know that marinate is a verb, and that marinade is the "sauce" with which you "marinate". Maybe you will. But I digress.
SUMMARY:
Nice looking cover, fits well, keeps wolves, eagles, and ferrets from attacking your smoker, but does absolutely nothing to stop the rain.
You may wish to consider this less attractive, but also less expensive, alternative solution: Kirkland Signature Drawstring Trash Bags - 33 Gallon - Xl Size - 90 Count
