(More customer reviews)I purchased this monitor as a second monitor for my MacBook Pro. First, the DVI does not work at all with the DVI output on my laptop. I am using the DVI/Serial converter that came with my MacBook. The color seems washed out, no matter what adjustments I use. Oddly, if I tip the monitor up, so it is at a 45 degree angle to the ceiling, the colors are brilliant and the contrast is crisp. I have been around and around on the ViewSonic website trying to find out more information about this, but have not found much. There was nothing to indicate that it is not Mac compatible (it comes with Mac drivers on the CD, along with Windows, but only Windows drivers are available for download on ViewSonic's website). The colors seem washed and I'm sad I can't get the DVI to work. Also, this monitor is bigger than my MacBook Pro monitor, so I was hoping to have the same resolution on a larger screen. Instead, the same resolution only displays larger on the ViewSonic monitor.
Needless to say, it is adequate, but I am disappointed, especially given the reviews. Granted, it was not an expensive monitor, so maybe my expectations were not realistic. Just be careful with what you intend use the monitor for, that's all.

(More customer reviews)We are currently using the Daily Motion and the Senior formulas of Pet Naturals, depending on which of our three dogs is up to bat for his or her "daily."I can only say good things about the superior formulas of Pet Naturals supplements, except for one thing, none of our three dogs want anything to do with them. They are "smoke" flavored, which I took to mean something up the line of jerky or bacon sort of flavoring. No, these smell more like a fireplace, not attractive to a human or a dog, unless one or the other was contemplating chewing and swallowing charcoal briquettes as a treat. I have to say all in all, it's very hard to find any supplement or medication that is supposedly attractively flavored for canines that they actually like. I think it's rather like the "great tasting cherry flavor" cough syrups, they just fall short. Given the dogs aren't too motivated regarding their health, I have found myself with the chore of crushing these and adding to food, or skillfully concealing them in cream cheese blobs. Crushing is most easily accomplished for me by placing on the counter and using the palm of my hand placed on top of the side of the french chef knife laying flat atop the vitamin. Any parent of a two year old or a pet knows the sort of tricks we will resort to. I will stick with this brand, unless I find better, due to the absolutely OUTSTANDING nutritional values that make the hassle factor so worth it. If the flavor was more human friendly, I would consider taking these myself. It would be far more hassle to have try and give many separate products to get the full range of supplements found in just one of these pills. The value for the money is pretty good, too, as just a half to one pill is a "serving" for a small breed under about 20lbs. This is a much better value than some brands requiring a whole pill or several pills, but the same number in the bottle for equal or greater price. Taste is ick, but the price and health outrank this one issue. I really wish they would improve the flavor of these so I could give them five stars. Oh the luxury.

Kingsford 71704 Mesquite Briquettes Review

(More customer reviews)I've used Kingsford Charcoal all my life, so I didn't hesitate to buy this, as I like Mesquite wood and we cannot get it easily here in Wisconsin. I don't know if I got a bad bag, but 1) the briquettes did not heat easily....I doused all briquettes evenly, lit 3 sides of the stack, had the normal flare up of flames and then waited the normal amount of time...I came back to 1/4th of the briquettes burning hot and 3/4 not burning at all. I put more fluid on the cold ones, lit them again, came back to a similar problem, 1/2 and 1/2 this time. Plus, I was getting a lot of smoke, not the normal fire one expects. Finally, I went down to the local store and bought some normal ones (ie. Kingsford in the blue and white bag). Put them on top of the mesquite ones and finally got the grill going so that I could grill my food. Last night, having only these mesquite briquettes left and needing to grill, I had the same problem and couldn't get all of my grilling done because of their uneven start up.
On top of all that, I can not discern any mesquite in the cooked meat, or in the smoke itself. Definitely will not purchase again. Sorry, Kingsford.

(More customer reviews)I recently purchased one of these for our house. Our family suffers from allergies which result many times in sinus infections, as well as colds. I was tired of our two young kids constantly being medicated for their runny noses and I thought this would help. My wife was a bit skeptical, but within the first 2 days of installing this air purifier in the family room the stuffy noses went away and we have not had a sinus infection (or really even a runny nose) since. I have purchased 3 more - one for each bedroom - and am very pleased with the performance. The unit is barely noticeable on the "silent" mode (I have to put my hand over it to know it is on). The kids like the "medium" setting for bedtime because it provides some "white" noise. I typically leave them on medium when we are not home. I have cleaned all of the units and it was very easy. All you do is use the brush attachment on the vacuum and clean up the front, top and inside of it. I did use the Assail a Cell cleaner on the Truman Cell - simply spray it on, wash it off and let it dry overnight. Some people have complained of the snapping or popping noise that the Oreck's occasionally make but I have only heard it a couple times and it let me know it is doing it's job. I have had overall excellent results with this air purifier and highly recommend it. The remote control is very handy. The air in our home feels and smells clean and fresh.

The flavor of these chips which are a mix of 3 different woods is in our opinion superior to the more popular and readily available hickory and mesquite that you find at the supermarket these woods are overpowering for our tastes. We use them for everything except beef. They are awesome for chicken and pork-chops and of-course scallops.
The best thing about this brand is that the chunks are very uniform in size and burn equally making the estimate of how much you need very predictable. meaning you start with 5 chunks. see how it comes out and adjust the next time. To smokey for you- use 3 not smokey enough-use 7 the uniform size makes the guesstimate quite accurate. The other thing I like is the packaging. Yes-the packaging. Most wood come in bags and makes the storage of them a bit clunky. The boxes make good use of space and can be stored in camping bins and bbq boxes much more efficiently. We store 3 different flavors of wood in the same box and only pack the 1 box. Anyone who grew up with the same tetris like mentality should relate. We also like the woodchips for pork. and the wine barrel chunks. The wine barrel chunks are perfect for beef!

Honeywell 17000 HEPA QuietCare Air Cleaner Review

(More customer reviews)I use this HEPA machine in my bedroom 24/7. It's helped dramatically with my many allergies (I just found out the allergies are causing my asthma that I've had for 9 months).
The only gripe I have with this machine is that it states that it's "Quietcare". On high, this thing is pretty loud!
However, I had a more inexpensive model (I think it was Honeywell 50010) and it was deafening, so this is an improvement.
Otherwise, this machine is giving me EXCELLENT results. I can sleep through the night without my eyes watering or dry mouth. It's improved my breathing (my family tells me 'I sound better') and helped with my snoring problems. At the price they're selling it for here, I'd pick one up. If noise bothers you just keep it on the low setting.
It really is a good product!

(More customer reviews)The Preface: This is not a review - just a quick note of warning to potential buyers.
1) Don't let the picture fool you. While the images may give you the impression this machine looks well designed and durable - I can assure you it is not. I actually had the benefit of purchasing it locally and was able to hold the box in my hand. I wish I could have held the machine itself, though. The plastic bean holder and grounds holder are made of thin, brittle plastic. So thin and brittle that I handle it very slowly and carefully to avoid dropping it. I have the feeling that if the grounds holder slipped out of my hands and fell 6 inches to the table top, that would be enough to shatter it. Furthermore, the grounds holder and lid are not flat and have several 'directions' - which make it clumsly and difficult to snap together.
2)The instructions actually advise you to clean the spout (where the grounds come out) after every use. They aren't kidding!!! In fact, on several occasions, while trying to grind less than half the capability of the timer, the grinder would stop grinding (even though the motor was still going) and I had to clean the spout. The real problem is that in order to fully clean the spout, the machine must be empty and spout tilted downward to help clear the passage. I've also noticed that gravity alone is not enough when tilting it - you will need to pat the sides of the machine to help loosen the build up.
Overall, this machine feels and works like a cheap toy. I don't know the company and have no idea what their reputation might be. They utterly failed with this product, though. Furthermore, the philosophy of 'you get what you pay for' does not apply to this product. Even if it was less than $10.00 I would want to warn any potential buyers.
I have no emotional investment with this machine or company. I'm not even angry. I just feel that people should know what to expect if they are thinking of buying it.
Sorry Nesco, but my observations and opinion about this product are being posted to help other consumers. If you want a better review, please make a better product!

Blueair 501 Air Purification System Review

(More customer reviews)I have tried many types of purifiers over the years. My allergies would always lay me out and severely impact my quality of life. After becoming disillusioned by the Honeywell HEPAs and the Orek (eegads never buy the Orek!!!!!) I started a very detailed research project.
Consistently, the BlueAir purifiers were at the top of every review and recommendation list. The only things beating them out were either attached to a house (I live in an apartment) or over $800. While the BlueAir itself is not cheap, I decided that my health was not worth saving the few hundred dollars another Honeywell would save me.
It was the best $500 I ever spent.
It runs quiet, it moves huge volumes of air and the filters are obviously doing their job. My allergies have subsided to a point where I no longer take meds!
The unit has 4 speed settings, the lowest being called "HEPASilent" which is barely audible, and the highest being much too loud to use during sleep. I find the 3rd setting to be the best performance to noise ratio. I can sleep perfectly fine at this level and I am a fairly light sleeper.
The unit can be heavy for lifting purposes, but comes on casters so you can easily wheel it around to different rooms.
If I had any gripes about this purifier, it would be the lack of a pre-filter. The unit essentially sucks air from the bottom and shoots it out the top, front, and back. Dust accumulates on the metal housing frame and must be cleaned during each filter change. Cleaning the housing can be a tad difficult unless you have a very slender vacuum hose.
The other potentially annoying thing is the fairly bright blue power light on the side. I hardly even notice it after over a year of use.

Coleman NorthStar Dual Fuel InstaStart Lantern Review

(More customer reviews)I've been using my Northstar dual-fuel for about two years. There are a number of great features on this lantern:
1. The wire "cage" really does protect the lantern. Mine's taken a few bumps and the globe is fine, thanks to the cage.
2. The fuel pump is great! Old style Coleman liquid fuel appliances required you to turn the pump counter clockwise, cover a thumb hole, pump the unit 20-30 times, then close the pump. This lantern is simple - just pump the unit - no thumb holes to deal with, and no need to open/close the pump valve.
3. Instastart button is nice, but not bullet-proof. In windy conditions I sometimes still have to resort to matches, but overall it's a great feature that works about 90% of the time to light the lantern. In addition, sometimes there's quite a puff of black smoke when the lantern lights. It's not a hazard, just takes a little getting used to.
4. The single "tube sock" mantle is easy to install, durable, and very bright, but they are more expensive than traditional tie-on mantles. They come with wire twists that fit onto grooves in the generator. Mine usually last an entire camping season (about a dozen overnight trips).
Here's a few cons I've noticed:
1. I seriously doubt you'll get 13 hours of burn time on a full tank of fuel, even with the lantern at the lowest setting. For one thing, you can only fill the tank about 2/3rd's full due to the placement of the filler hole (plus you need to leave air for the pump to operate correctly). I average about 6-8 hours with a tank of fuel. You can usually go an entire weekend without refilling the tank.
2. Residue. Sometimes the instastart takes awhile to work, and you get a puff of black smoke when it finally does fire up. The smoke kind of leaves a residue on the inside of the lantern, as well as on the top where the thumb screw is. This is common with most liquid fuel lanterns I've owned, just clean the globe from time to time.
